We’re decking the halls and celebrating hard as we hurtle towards Christmas, without a teensy thought about the state of the economy. Or is that just me?
Yes, it probably is. According to Enterprise Nation adviser and former banker Iain Hawthorn, after last week’s Budget, cash will again be king. He told me that 40 years in corporate banking has taught him to recognise the post-Budget economic warning signs and predicts firms will be hoarding cash in the short term. By the way, the OECD agrees with him. But unlike them, he’s also got some excellent pragmatic ideas to increase resilience – and explains why making it to the other side is worth it.
